We are one month down on this seven month long deployment. And I must admit, it's been the hardest deployment yet.
I am slowly figuring out ways to make things easier, for instance, I hired a nanny to come to the house in the mornings instead of taking the girls to the base child care center. This way I don't have to rush the girls out of the house at 6:30am. It's been a godsend.
School has been a lot of work. The instructors treat us differently this year, but they also throw a lot more work at us. I feel like I am being pulled in a lot of different directions. The workouts have suffered and I will not make my September to Remember goal. I can't wait to read about how everyone else does though.
I'm thinking about incorporating some swimming into the mix starting Monday. I'm getting a little bored with the running only bit. Any advice from you experts?

Call me a proud mama.
I overheard this conversation between my girls' this afternoon while they were making lunch. I am not sure what started the disagreement, but I love how it ended:
M: "Ya, well your stupid anyway."
K: "No I'm not, I'm smarter than you are."
M: "Oh yeah, is that why your brain is so small?"
K: "My brain might be small, but there are millions of neurons in there."
Is that spoken like a future nurse or what?

My poor neglected blog...
I've been having a pity party of sorts lately.
I'm not interested in working out, though I continue to pretend I am. (I try to run, but lately I have ended up with a lot of 3 milers since that's all I can talk myself into.)
School work is blah.
My house is a mess & I am in last place in my very own "Biggest Loser" contest I started with some other nursing students. I started the challenge & I am losing. That's bad, right?
I'm not sure what my problem is, but I wish I would snap out of it.

3 miles in the dark
Okay, either it needs to stay light longer at night, or someone needs to tell Mother Nature that it is Sept. and therefore should not be 93 degrees outside. Doing so would eliminate my need to go out for a run at 7:15pm hoping that I have enough daylight to make it 3 miles.
For the record, I didn't. And so I was running in the dark, trying to be as loud as possible in hopes that I would not run upon a deer. Because base is full of them and they like to hang out on the bike path at dusk. Luckily, my singing of The Middle by Jimmy Eat World scared away any potential wildlife.

400 hundred baby!!
Okay, so I realize for some of you, 400 is your montly total for running, but for me, to hit 400 for the year in Sept when last year it took me until Dec is awesome!
Now as for the September to Remember challenge, I need to step up my game. I'm less than 1/3 of the way there. How's everyone else doing?
And in other news....(drumroll please)
We got news on our next duty station. (finally)
Ken was one of 15 Marines selected out of 411 to become a Recruiting Station Commanding Officer...and we got our (well, my...) number one choice. Portsmouth, New Hampshire!! I am thrilled. I can not wait to move back there.
Now if only I could qualify for Boston............

Slacking
The Marine called me a blog slacker. All the way from Isreal.
He teased that unless I update the blog he will never know what's going on with me.
Gotta love him.
The half is roughly 2 weeks away & I think I'm going to go ahead & muddle through despite my ass pain. Yes, that is what I am calling my gluteus maximus pain that occurs each time I run a distance greater than 5 miles. It's a pain in my ass & therefore will appropriately be called such.
Besides that there isn't much going on. School is kicking my ass but I am learning a lot. The instructors have turned up the heat & suddenly expect a lot more out of us than last year, but at the same time the nurses at the hospitals trust us more. Last year they used to come in behind us & do their own assessments but today at clinicals the nurse assigned to my patient didn't even go into the room until 11am when I left. She left everything up to me & it was awesome.
Okay, back to studying. I do have a test tomorrow that I haven't really studied for yet. Better get to it.

Off and running
So the Sept to remember is off to a great start. We had 9 people sign up already & we are always up for more. All you have to do is beat your highest month so far this year in either running, swimming or biking.
Here are our lovely contestants:
Marcy
Liz
Jess
Michael
The Happy Runner
The Running Knitter
Nike Mom
M*J*C*
Ace
Personally, I need to get out there & get going. The weekend excitement from the Tropical Storm has set me behind. I will hopefully rectify that tonight.
I did start the P90X though. Ouch. That's all I can say.

September to Remember
So losing weight is not really my thing.
Case & point is how last week I was in second place in Quad's weight loss challenge and this weeek, well this week my husband left & I ate my weight in peanut M&M's.
I had thrown out there that I wanted to start a Biggest Loser: The deployment challenge but I think instead I'm going to just think of monthly goals/challenges & if you would like to join...well throw your name into the comments section. There might even be prizes...cheap prizes, but prizes all the same.
This month's challenge is to beat my highest grossing running month of the year. I (believe) this number for me is around 76 miles. I'm not sure off hand and the computer which has such facts is a whole 7 feet away & I don't want to get up & look right now.
But the Sept. challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to beat your highest grossing month of the year. Now whether you choose this challenge to be biking, swimming, running or consecutive days of lollygagging, that is entirely up to you.
If you would like to participate throw your name into the comments section along with your sport & your highest month stats.
Let the games begin.
